Understanding Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes
MWCNTs consist of multiple rolled layers of graphene forming concentric tubes. Two structural models describe them: the Russian-doll model, where cylinders nest within each other, and the Parchment model, where a single sheet rolls on itself. The interlayer spacing is ~3.4 Å, similar to graphite. Typical outer diameters range from 2–100 nm with lengths up to several micrometers.
